Our Teaching openings are onsite positions; Teachers are expected to be present at their assigned academy location during scheduled academy hours.
The Role
As a Teacher, you will serve as the primary instructional resource for our students, delivering competency-based content, supporting personalized learning, and guiding students toward graduation and post-secondary success. Unlike traditional classroom teaching roles, the Teachers operate in a personalized, flexible learning environment where instruction is delivered primarily through individualized coaching, small-group support, and targeted, data-driven interventions.
Using academy dashboards and student data systems, you will proactively identify off-track students and provide timely academic support to keep them progressing toward graduation. You will work with a collaborative team to provide academic, social-emotional, and career-oriented support that empowers each learner’s journey.
Key Responsibilities
Enrollment
Support new student enrollment through recruitment and engagement effortsAssist with the development of Personalized Learning Plans for studentsRetention
Serve as an advisor for assigned students by maintaining communication with learners and their support teamMonitor attendance, academic progress, and overall wellness to ensure consistent engagement and achievementAcademics
Plan and deliver content-area instruction in both individual and small group settingsMaintain strong ownership of student progress toward course completion, credit accumulation, and graduation readiness goals using formative and summative assessments and academy data systemsAnalyze and use academic data to inform instruction and improve outcomesProvide remediation and enrichment opportunities to address learning gaps and accelerate successParticipate in professional development, data meetings, and school/community eventsAdvocacy
Collaborate with the student support team to develop personalized learning pathways, transition strategies, and incentive plansRepresent the academy in community events and contribute to academy-wide initiativesCollaborate with a multidisciplinary academy team including Student Advocates, Professional School Counselors, and academy leadership to provide coordinated wraparound supportPerform other responsibilities as needed to support the academy’s missionWhat We’re Looking For
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
Certification (REQUIRED): Valid state teaching certification for grades 6–12 or 9–12 in one of the following content areas: Math, English/ELA, Social Studies, Special Education, or Science
Experience: 2+ years of teaching experience (high school preferred)
Skills: Strong communication, time management, instructional planning, and collaboration skills
Passion: A deep commitment to helping at-risk youth succeed academically and personally
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in non-traditional or at-risk youth settingsBilingual (Spanish preferred)Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and alternative education modelsExperience with competency-based learning, instructional coaching, or project-based educationDemonstrated ability to use learning management systems (LMS), student information systems (SIS), and data dashboards to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisionsWhy Join Us?
