Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Paint Line Operator will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish interior and exterior surfaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Identifies proper finishing materials and species of wood to be used.
· Maintains quality by inspecting materials used for defects and flaws, understanding that some occur naturally in raw wood materials.
· Reports defective materials or questionable conditions, including potential defects of unfinished caskets and components, to the area team leader prior to staining when possible.
· Performs staining, shading, sealing, sealer sanding and topcoat finishing of caskets and casket components according to documented standards using spray guns and pneumatic sanders.
· Understands the operation of the paint booths and the air flow and replaces paint booth filters as needed.
· Moves products and materials throughout the department as needed.
· Understands the operation of all paint line equipment, including computer and paint line carts.
· Masks areas of caskets and components when required to refinish defects.
· Follows all prescribed safety regulations, including those applicable to local, state and federal laws.
· Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
· Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
· Performs other duties as assigned that may be required.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work.
· Highly motivated and able to work independently
· Working knowledge of all production equipment and processes.
· Good communication skills, team oriented and a self-starter.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Requires a high school diploma/GED.
· Previous experience in industrial paint preparation and/or application is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Has ability to read, comprehend and write the English language as it relates to safety, job responsibilities and other essential communication.
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills

· Must be able to lift, push and pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds consistently, with heavier weight necessary at times.
· Must be able to walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to distinguish among colors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described below is representative of the surroundings an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
· Works within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is not temperature regulated.
· The environment may be loud requiring hearing protection in some areas.
· Personal protective equipment is required as defined within the hazard analysis sheet defined for this position.
