Job Description
The Senior Accountant supports the Accounting Manager in maintaining accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial records and reporting. This role is responsible for month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and supporting internal controls. This position is primarily responsible for assisting in day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy of all financial statements, and preparation of timely reporting and supporting reconciliations. The Senior Accountant has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to entry-level accounting staff and assist the Accounting Manager with departmental initiatives. This position requires advanced Excel capabilities, financial data analytics experience, and the ability to navigate and understand ERP systems. Candidates with demonstrated expertise in these areas, or comparable qualifications, will be given priority consideration.
Responsibilities- Participate in month -end closing: preparing month-end reports, reconciling accounts, creating, and posting journal entries, and analyzing and explaining variances.
- Perform day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and sales/use tax compliance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and internal control requirements.
- Assist with the design, documentation, implementation, and improvement of internal controls and accounting processes.
- Ability with support to assess and understand business activities and transactions for accurate reporting, including intercompany transactions and reporting.
- Research and resolve ERP system issues and support various information system development, conversion, and implementation tasks.
- Assist with preparation of work papers, schedules and analysis for forecasts, budgets, long range plans, external auditors, and consultants.
- Create new or revise reports and analysis for upstream and downstream reporting.
- Support integration and standardization of accounting and reporting policies and procedures.
- Assists in analyzing accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess the financial performance of the business and measure productivity.
- Participates in various other accounting activities or projects as necessary and/or act as a backup to others within the department.

- Knowledge of accrual-based Accounting: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices related to accrual-based systems.
- ERP Systems Experience: Hands-on experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) and proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite applications.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field required.
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience preferred, ideally with ERP software exposure. (public accounting or corporate accounting experience preferred)
- Ability to speak and hear effectively in person and by telephone.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility as needed.
- Ability to access and navigate all applicable areas of the organization's facilities.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work is performed primarily indoors in a controlled-temperature environment.
- Position may require occasional exposure to outdoor conditions and changing weather.
