Description: Join Our Nursing Team

Crane Memorial Hospital is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Full-Time Night Charge Nurse on the Med/Surg unit.

This position is ideal for an RN who is confident in their clinical skills, enjoys being a resource for others, and is comfortable providing leadership and direction during the night shift. As the Night Charge Nurse, you will provide direct patient care while helping coordinate nursing operations, support staff, and ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care throughout the shift.


As the Night Charge RN, you will:

  • Provide professional nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs.
  • Serve as the Charge Nurse for the night shift, providing leadership, direction, and support to LVNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff.
  • Assign and supervise nursing staff while ensuring appropriate workload distribution and prioritization of patient needs.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments across the lifespan.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and blood products in accordance with hospital policies and protocols.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to significant or critical changes.
  • Coordinate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including assessments, care plans, patient education, and discharge planning.
  • Provide leadership during emergencies and assist staff in responding to critical situations.
  • Promote patient safety, infection prevention, and compliance with hospital policies and clinical standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and identify opportunities to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Serve as a positive resource, mentor, and role model for nursing staff.
  • Help ensure the unit remains organized, properly stocked, and prepared to meet patient needs.
Requirements:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas or applicable compact privilege.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum of one year of general nursing experience.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain effective in emergency or high-stress situations.

Preferred:

  • BSN.
  • Previous Charge Nurse or nursing leadership experience.
  • Emergency care experience.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and/or NALS certifications.
