About AOII Fraternity

Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity (AOII) has been a pillar in the Fraternity/Sorority Life community since its founding date of January 2, 1897, at Barnard College. Since that date, AOII has established chapters on over 200 college campuses across the United States and Canada and initiated more than 211,000 members. Why the Assistant Director of Digital Communication for AOII:

As the Assistant Director of Digital Communication for AOII, you will be a vital member within the AOII Communications Department by creating and editing written content for multiple AOII channels, including the AOII website, social media, email marketing campaigns, AOII Fraternity News blog, To Dragma, brochures, direct mail, reports and other communications projects as needed. The Assistant Director of Digital Communication will also manage edits and updates to the AOII website.

Reports to:

  • Director of Communications

Essential Duties or Functions:

  • Create and manage a content calendar for AOII’s online blog and email campaigns
  • Create and edit written content for email marketing campaigns, parent communications, social media campaigns as needed, blog posts, To Dragma articles, annual reports, video scripts, promotional resources, and other communications projects
  • Partner with the Director of Communications to write and distribute general news releases and announcements to internal and external publics as outlined in the Fraternity Communication Plan
  • Copyedit content created by other staff members and volunteers as needed
  • Provide coaching and support to collegiate chapters to strengthen written communications on communications projects requested
  • Develop and assist with email campaigns
  • Ensure written content maintains one consistent voice of AOII
  • Oversee editorial updates to the AOII website
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on public relations initiatives and strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Serve on the Communications team to support AOII in any related duties required or requested by the Executive Director or Assistant Executive Director

Assistant Director of Digital Communication must be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with work portfolio provided for reference
  • Strong copyediting skills
  • Active listening and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to easily engage others in positive dialogue one- on-one or in a group setting, and at many different levels
  • High-level of emotional intelligence
  • Skills at prioritizing duties, working under time constraints, handling multiple tasks, and able to direct others to execute shared plans and goals
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to think and act independently and the ability to work individually or as a member of a team
  • Ability to scan an audience and cater messaging in the moment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience developing, managing, and executing marketing campaigns
  • Experience with website content updates

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, creative writing or related field
  • Experience with email marketing software platforms
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language
  • Physical mobility and dexterity to transport files and operate general office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, computer, etc.)
  • Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Member of the Fraternity Communications Association (FCA)
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend functions as necessary
  • Must be willing and able to travel as needed
  • Experience in Canva preferred
  • Membership in a Fraternity/Sorority preferred
  • Two to four years of relevant experience preferred
  • Experience with AP Style preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Office setting based in Brentwood, TN, remote work capable
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on the computer
  • Must be able to lift up-to 15 pounds at times

Salary Range:

  • $52,000 - $58,000
