This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Linux System Administrator based in India.
This part-time remote role offers the opportunity to support and maintain Linux-based infrastructure for an international technology environment. You will be responsible for server administration, cloud hosting, deployment systems, monitoring, security, and backup operations. The role spans both traditional dedicated infrastructure and modern cloud platforms, giving you broad exposure across the systems administration landscape. You’ll work with technologies including Linux, Docker, Jenkins, Gerrit, Bitbucket, AWS, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, and database platforms. Success in this position requires strong troubleshooting skills, security awareness, and the ability to work independently. It is well suited to an experienced administrator who enjoys maintaining reliable, secure, and well-performing infrastructure.
- Administer and maintain Linux servers across distributions including Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS.
- Perform remote server administration using SSH, SCP, Rsync, SFTP, VNC, and related tools.
- Maintain and troubleshoot international server environments, dedicated servers, VPS infrastructure, and cloud-hosted systems.
- Manage web hosting environments using Apache, Nginx, PHP, MySQL, and related technologies.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot database systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Manage SSL certificates, DNS configurations, Cloudflare settings, and website infrastructure.
- Maintain Jenkins deployment environments and Gerrit Code Review systems.
- Set up and maintain projects, repositories, and pipelines using Bitbucket.
- Dockerize applications and build, maintain, and manage custom Docker images.
- Install and configure VPS environments across providers such as HostEurope, Hetzner, and GoDaddy.
- Manage cloud hosting infrastructure across platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Linode.
- Implement server hardening and apply appropriate security measures to protect infrastructure and applications.
- Install and maintain monitoring solutions such as Zabbix and Graylog.
- Configure and maintain automated backups for customer and internal servers, ensuring data availability and recovery readiness.
- Set up and maintain websites and applications using Plesk and cPanel.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, identify issues proactively, and resolve operational problems efficiently.
- Use Git and established administration practices to support reliable and maintainable infrastructure.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in international server or systems administration.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux administration, networking, computing concepts, and server infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS.
- Practical experience with remote administration tools and protocols including SSH, SCP, Rsync, SFTP, and VNC.
- Strong knowledge of SSL certificate management, DNS, server security, and infrastructure hardening.
- Experience administering web hosting environments involving Apache, Nginx, PHP, and MySQL.
- Hands-on experience installing and maintaining MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience with Git and modern software development infrastructure.
- Practical experience with Jenkins, Gerrit, Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Docker, including application containerization and custom image management.
- Exposure to VPS and dedicated-server administration across hosting providers.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Linode.
- Familiarity with Cloudflare, Zabbix, Graylog, Plesk, and cPanel is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage infrastructure tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a security-conscious approach to systems administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively in an international working environment.
