Durham Exchange Club Industries (DECI) is seeking a dedicated, dependable, and detail-oriented Production Tech II to help drive production excellence while serving as a mentor and role model for team members. This position combines hands-on production work with leadership responsibilities, helping ensure quality standards, safety expectations, and production goals are consistently achieved.

Position Summary

The Production Tech II performs production and inspection activities based on assigned projects while supporting quality, safety, and productivity goals. This role serves as an experienced team member who helps train, mentor, and guide Production Associates and Clients by modeling successful workplace behaviors and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality

  • Perform production and assembly tasks according to established work instructions and project requirements.
  • Meet productivity standards while maintaining a strong commitment to quality.
  • Conduct inspections of products, kits, and materials to identify defects, missing components, or quality concerns.
  • Perform counting, verification, and documentation activities to ensure production accuracy.
  • Assist with rework identification and quality reviews of completed work.
Training & Mentorship
  • Assist in training Production Associates and Clients on new tasks, procedures, and quality expectations.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, safety awareness, and strong work habits.
  • Encourage team members to understand workplace expectations, attendance standards, and safety practices.
  • Support coworkers in achieving production and quality goals.
Material Handling & Operations
  • Move materials, supplies, and finished products between workstations and dock areas.
  • Operate basic material-handling equipment, including hand jacks, balers, and banding machines.
  • Monitor workflow and proactively communicate material shortages or production needs to supervisors.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Support hazardous waste handling procedures, including proper labeling, storage, packaging, and transportation according to site guidelines.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures and required safety training.
Workplace Excellence
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Care for company equipment, tools, materials, and products.
  • Participate in DECI training and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications


Required
  • Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of successful experience as a Production Associate or in a comparable production environment.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
  • Ability to mentor and support coworkers while understanding appropriate reporting channels for workplace concerns.
  • Strong reading, counting, sorting, inspection, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, associates, and clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, packaging, warehousing, quality inspection, or production operations.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular physical activity in a warehouse production environment.

Candidates Must Be Able To:
  • Stand and walk frequently throughout the workday.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Reach, handle, and manipulate materials and products.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and balance.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves and aprons.
