Job Description

Donor Relations Coordinator

Friday Services is seeking a Donor Relations Coordinator to support our clients Resource Development team in Asheville. This role is a great fit for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys building genuine relationships with people.

The Donor Relations Coordinator will support fundraising operations by processing gifts, maintaining accurate donor records, communicating with donors, and providing administrative support to the Resource Development team. This position plays an important role in ensuring donors feel appreciated and well-supported throughout their relationship with the organization.

Location: Asheville, NC 28805
Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
Schedule: Day Shift
Employment Type: Temporary Assignment Part Time 20hours a week

Responsibilities

Gift Processing & Donor Acknowledgement

  • Process monetary gifts received by cash, check, credit card, EFT, stock, and other methods

  • Apply program restrictions according to donor wishes

  • Prepare and send timely gift acknowledgement letters

  • Personally thank low- to mid-level donors through phone calls and text messages

  • Prepare personalized mailed thank-you notes when appropriate

Donor & Gift Reporting

  • Create queries, reports, and spreadsheets to support fundraising initiatives

  • Maintain accurate donor and gift information

  • Lead monthly gift reconciliation in partnership with the Finance team

Donor Communications & Stewardship

  • Prepare donor tax documentation, annual gift statements, pledge reminders, sponsorship invoices, and other donor communications

  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting related to payment processes

  • Help cultivate relationships with low- to mid-level individual donors

  • Work closely with the Resource Development team to ensure donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders feel appreciated and engaged

Resource Development Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the Resource Development department

  • Assist with fundraising, development, and communications activities as needed

  • Participate in community events, tabling opportunities, and engagement activities as needed

Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

  • Excellent organization and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable and professional communicating with the public by phone, email, and in person

  • Ability to build and maintain genuine relationships with donors and community stakeholders

  • Associate or bachelors degree in a related field preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace required

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and stay organized

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Shift: Day Shift

Description: The Donor Relations Specialist supports both the logistical and stewardship aspects of fundraising for our client by building and maintaining positive relationships with donors to encourage continued support for the organization. This position is a detail and process-oriented role. The Donor Relations Specialist processes all monetary gifts received, ensures donors are acknowledged in a timely manner, reports on fundraising progress within the organization, and stewards low-mid level donors. This role is responsible for ensuring the donor database is used to the best of its ability for Resource Development initiatives, working closely with the Communications Specialist to ensure solicitations and other messages are distributed appropriately and accurately. The role serves as the main point of contact for annual fund donors and must have strong customer service and relationship-building abilities.
Responsibilities:

o Apply program restrictions according to donor wishes
o Send acknowledgement letters for all gifts in a timely manner
o Personally thank low-mid level donors through phone calls and texts, crafting personalized mailed thank-you notes as appropriate
Donor and Gift Reporting:
o Create queries, reports and spreadsheets as requested by the Resource Development team
o Lead monthly gift reconciliation with Finance
Donor Communications and Stewardship:
o Issue donor tax documentation, annual gift accounting, pledge reminders, sponsorship invoices, etc. in a timely manner
o Provide instructions and troubleshooting for payment processes
o Collaborate with Resource Development team to ensure that donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders are nurtured and appreciated
o Assist with donor cultivation for low-mid level individual donors
Support Resource Development operations:
o Provide general administrative support to the Resource Development department and assisting with other development and communications activities as needed
o Staff community tabling and engagement events as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to comfortably and professionally interact with the public via email, phone and in-person
Ability to build and nurture genuine relationships with stakeholders
Associate or bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace required
Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects
Ability to work both independently and in a team
