Job Description
Description:
At Douglas J, creating an exceptional guest experience starts with the environment around us. We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Facilities Technician to help keep our Knoxville Institute clean, safe, polished, and operating at its best.
If you’re someone who enjoys fixing things, working independently, spotting potential problems before they become bigger ones, and taking pride in a well-maintained facility, we’d love to hear from you.
What You'll Do:
- Handle day-to-day facility maintenance, including light plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
- Perform routine inspections of the building, equipment, parking lot, and grounds.
- Identify maintenance needs and address issues proactively before they become larger problems.
- Help keep the Institute clean, organized, safe, and guest-ready, working alongside our third-party cleaning service.
- Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work based on urgency and operational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, service requests, and preventative maintenance.
- Purchase necessary materials and maintain organized maintenance supplies and inventory.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and service providers when specialized repairs are needed.
- Assist with facility setup and maintenance needs for events, promotions, and other company activities.
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, handyman work, or a related field.
- Comfortable performing a variety of basic repairs and troubleshooting facility issues.
- A proactive, self-directed approach—you notice what needs attention and take ownership of getting it done.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a professional, guest-facing environment.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
