Environmental / Laundry Service Aide
Job SummaryThe Environmental / Laundry Service Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the facility while ensuring the proper collection, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of linens and resident clothing. This role supports infection prevention, resident comfort, and overall facility operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Services DutiesClean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas according to facility standards.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces.
Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces to support infection prevention.
Empty trash and biohazard waste containers and replace liners.
Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Follow established cleaning schedules and safety procedures.
Report maintenance issues, hazards, or supply shortages to supervisors.
Collect soiled linens, towels, and resident clothing from designated areas.
Sort laundry according to type, fabric, and washing requirements.
Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely.
Fold, label, and distribute clean linens and resident clothing.
Ensure proper infection control practices when handling soiled laundry.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous housekeeping or laundry experience in healthcare or hospitality is an asset.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and infection control practices.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physically able to lift, bend, push carts, and stand for extended periods.
Attention to detail and cleanliness standards
Time management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Commitment to safety and infection control
Work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and soiled laundry.
Requires frequent standing, bending, lifting, and pushing laundry carts.
May involve weekend, evening, or holiday shifts depending on facility needs.
