About the Role:
The Security Officer for commercial buildings plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for tenants, visitors, and staff within the premises. This position involves vigilant monitoring of the property to prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches. The officer will respond promptly to incidents, conduct regular patrols, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies. By effectively managing security systems and collaborating with emergency services when necessary, the officer helps to minimize risks and protect valuable assets. Ultimately, this role contributes to creating a secure atmosphere that supports the smooth operation of commercial activities within the building.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid security officer license or certification as required by state regulations.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform patrol duties, including standing and walking for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in commercial or corporate security.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with security technology such as CCTV systems and access control software.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine patrols of the commercial building and surrounding areas to detect and deter suspicious activity.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems to identify potential security threats or breaches.
- Control access points by verifying credentials and managing visitor logs to ensure only authorized individuals enter the premises.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, including coordinating with law enforcement or emergency responders as needed.
- Prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and irregularities such as property damage or theft.
- Enforce building rules and regulations to maintain order and safety for all occupants.
- Provide assistance and directions to tenants and visitors while maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor.
