GENERAL DESCRIPTION (PURPOSE)

The Young Adult Ministry Associate helps lead and build a thriving ministry where young adults can connect, grow in their relationship with Jesus, build meaningful community, and take their next steps in faith. This role provides leadership across monthly services, Connect Groups, volunteers, mission trips, community events, and the transition from college ministry into young adult ministry, while serving as a relational and spiritual leader to the young adults in the church.

  • A committed Christian living a life of obedience; beliefs consistent with NPHX Church statement of faith.
  • Passion for seeing college students and young adults come to faith in Jesus Christ and for them to grow in that faith and live it out daily.

  • Ability to teach Biblical truth in an accurate, relevant way to a young adult audience.

  • Must be/become a member of NPHX Church.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Evaluation criteria based on these responsibilities listed on review forms)

Young Adult Monthly Service: ~ 20%

  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of the monthly Young Adult service.
  • Plan and execute pre-service events and experiences that create opportunities for community and connection.
  • Develop and coordinate the service flow in collaboration with the Young Adult Ministry team.
  • Plan and coordinate post-service events and gatherings.
  • Participate in developing the monthly preaching rotation.
  • Participate in the monthly preaching rotation and be comfortable regularly sharing the platform to preach.
  • Assist with platform announcements, testimonies, prayer times, and other elements of the service.
  • Help ensure all elements of the service are organized, prepared, and executed effectively.
  • Intentionally connect with first-time guests and help them feel welcomed, known, and connected to the ministry.
  • Follow up with guests and help them identify opportunities to become more connected.
  • Assist young adults as they pursue baptism and other spiritual next steps.
  • Help young adults identify and take their next step in their faith, whether through discipleship, community, serving, leadership, or other ministry opportunities.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and potentially leading residents and interns within the ministry.
  • Assist with social media promotion for the Young Adult Ministry.

Connect Groups: ~ 20% ?

  • Recruit, equip, and develop Connect Group leaders.
  • Oversee Connect Group scheduling and organization.
  • Schedule and lead regular Connect Group leader meetings.
  • Develop and maintain a shepherding system to consistently care for and support Connect Group leaders.
  • Regularly check in with leaders to ensure groups are healthy, functioning well, and meeting the needs of their members.
  • Provide encouragement, support, accountability, and problem-solving for Connect Group leaders.
  • Plan and execute an annual Connect Group leader retreat.
  • Communicate consistently with Connect Group leaders regarding upcoming events, meetings, curriculum, expectations, and other important information.
  • Ensure Connect Group curriculum is properly written, prepared, and distributed to leaders in a timely manner.
  • Assist with developing discussion questions and content for Connect Group curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate administrative systems related to Connect Groups.
  • Recruit young adults who are interested in joining Connect Groups and help connect them with an appropriate group.
  • Monitor the overall health and effectiveness of the Connect Group ministry and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.

Young Adult Volunteers: ~ 20%

  • Recruit volunteers to serve within the Young Adult Ministry.
  • Lead and oversee the volunteer onboarding process.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding schedules, expectations, responsibilities, and important ministry information.
  • Ensure volunteers are prepared and equipped to fulfill their assigned roles.
  • Oversee the execution of volunteer responsibilities and help ensure commitments are being followed through.
  • Provide accountability and encouragement to volunteers to promote consistency, ownership, and faithfulness in serving.
  • Ensure all necessary volunteer and event preparation is completed before Young Adult events.
  • Plan and execute regular volunteer appreciation events and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate administrative systems for tracking volunteers, schedules, participation, and other relevant information.

Community Building: ~ 10%

  • Plan and execute at least one intentional community-building event each month.
  • Create environments that encourage young adults to build relationships with one another.
  • Look for creative ways to build community and increase engagement within the ministry.

College Ministry Partnership: ~ 10%

  • Serve as a bridge between the College and Young Adult ministry through actively participating in key College ministry environments such as, but not limited to: The Collective service as. The College Fall Retreat. The College Ministry mission trip
  • Help create a unified ministry experience for students as they move from college into the young adult stage of life.
  • Build relationships with college students who may eventually transition into the Young Adult Ministry.

Mission Trip(s): ~ 5%

  • Plan and coordinate the annual Young Adult mission trip.
  • Assist with recruiting and preparing participants.
  • Develop and oversee the logistics, communication, and ministry components of the trip.
  • Lead and disciple young adults throughout the mission trip experience.

Young Adult Discipleship & Pastoral Care: ~ 5%

  • Build intentional relationships with young adults within the ministry.
  • Disciple and walk alongside young adults as they grow in their relationship with Jesus.
  • Provide encouragement, prayer, spiritual guidance, and appropriate pastoral care.

Department Leadership: ~ 5%

  • Develop an annual calendar of events for responsible areas of ministry.
  • Prepare an annual budget that reflects the goals, objectives and programs of the ministry.
  • Set, attain, and report on growth and ministry goals.
  • Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place and followed for a safe and secure ministry environment.
  • Collaborate with other ministry departments.
  • Research current events, culture, and community issues that relate to and/or affect ministries under your supervision.
  • Participate in general expectations of ministry staff such as staff meetings, team assignments, etc.
  • Train and supervise interns and residents as assigned.

NPHX Church at large Pastoral/Ministerial Functions: ~ 5%

  • Provide crisis care (in conjunction with others on the pastoral/care teams) as assigned to those who are experiencing spiritual, emotional, or physical crisis.
  • Teach, facilitate, or train at events as requested.
  • Encourages spiritual focus and commitment by modeling the core values of NPHX Church.
  • Participate in all required activities for NPHX Staff (Sunday Service, Staff meetings, Christmas Eve, Christmas for Phoenix, Thanksgiving for Phoenix, Easter, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor – not to exceed 5%
