About the Role:
The Career and Resource Navigator plays a pivotal role in empowering individuals to achieve their professional and personal goals by providing comprehensive guidance and support. This position focuses on connecting clients with appropriate career development resources, educational opportunities, and community services to facilitate their success. The Navigator collaborates closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized action plans, and remove barriers to employment and advancement. By maintaining up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends and available resources, the Navigator ensures clients receive relevant and timely assistance. Ultimately, this role contributes to enhancing workforce readiness and improving the overall well-being of the community served.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social services, education, human resources, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in career counseling, workforce development, social services, or a related area.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse populations.
- Ability to manage multiple client cases and maintain detailed documentation.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and client management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in career coaching, workforce development, or case management.
- Experience working with underserved or marginalized populations.
- Knowledge of local labor market and community resources within the United States.
- Bilingual abilities to serve non-English speaking clients effectively.
- Familiarity with grant-funded program requirements and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-on-one assessments with clients to identify career goals, skills, and resource needs.
- Develop individualized career plans and provide ongoing coaching to support client progress.
- Connect clients with educational programs, job training, employment opportunities, and social services.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes using designated data management systems.
- Collaborate with community partners, employers, and service providers to expand resource networks and opportunities.
- Stay informed about local labor market trends, funding opportunities, and relevant policies affecting clients.
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions on job readiness, resume building, interview skills, and other career development topics.
Skills:
The Career and Resource Navigator utilizes strong communication and active listening skills daily to build trust and understand client needs thoroughly. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple client plans, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records. Problem-solving abilities help the Navigator identify barriers clients face and develop creative solutions to overcome them. Knowledge of community resources and labor market trends enables the Navigator to provide relevant and timely referrals. Additionally, proficiency with technology supports efficient data entry, reporting, and virtual client engagement, enhancing overall service delivery.
