Position Type: Part-Time (25 hours per week)

Location: Abraham Lincoln High School | 3201 Ryan Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136

Schedule: Monday through Friday (In-Person, afterschool hours) with occasional Saturday programming

Role Overview: The High School PLAE Site Coordinator directs the daily operations, student engagement, and logistics of the school-based Out-of-School Time (OST) program, ensuring high-impact afternoon programming for students in grades 9–12. Operating directly after school until 5:30 PM, the Coordinator leads program staff, mentors, and external partners in delivering post-secondary preparation, sports and athletics, academic tutoring, and interest-driven leadership opportunities tailored to young adults. This role serves as a key liaison between high school administration, guidance staff, and community organizations, maintaining professional communication with families while fostering a safe, drop-in-friendly, and empowering environment that supports youth autonomy, college readiness, and personal growth.

This role drives student engagement by managing curriculum implementation—focusing on Literacy, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Mentorship, and Sports—while ensuring strict compliance with organizational policies, the School District of Philadelphia, and the Office of Strategic Partnerships.

• Oversee daily program logistics and manage the efficient use of school building spaces, including classrooms, cafeteria, multi-purpose rooms, and the gymnasium.

• Coordinate logistics, transportation, and scheduling for the high school peer mentorship program, ensuring students are safely transported and supported when traveling to Propel K–8 on designated days to mentor younger youth.

• Supervise participants' daily snack program during the afterschool session and summer programming.

• Organize and act as the primary liaison for program enhancements, dynamic field trips, sports activities, and on-site vendor activities.

• Manage and maintain accurate program data entry into required internal and external tracking systems.

• Ensure full compliance with organizational policies, Philadelphia School District requirements, and Office of Children and Families grant expectations.

• Provide the school Principal with weekly OST attendance reports within one business day following the end of each week.

• Maintain strict adherence to all health and safety protocols across all program spaces and during off-site mentorship travel.

• Provide daily on-site supervision, guidance, leadership, and conflict resolution support to program staff, mentors, consultants, and part-time OST personnel (including front door and security staff).

• Develop and manage staff and high school mentor schedules, review lesson and activity plans, and review and approve employee timesheets in Paycom.

• Deliver regular program and agency-wide updates to staff and high school student leaders to ensure organizational alignment and cohesion.

• Lead and oversee the execution of Project-Based Learning, High School-to-K-8 Peer Mentorship, Literacy, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and Sports activities designed for youth development and high school leadership.

• Prepare high school students for their mentoring roles at Propel K–8 by providing guidance on professional conduct, activity leadership, and positive youth engagement.

• Collaborate on program schedules, seasonal activity planning, and curriculum updates that align with contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

• Prepare dynamic indoor and outdoor afternoon activities tailored to varying weather conditions.

• Maintain oversight of a positive behavior management plan and assist with student conflict resolution and problem-solving as needed.

• Work collaboratively with high school leadership and Propel K–8 administrators to align OST offerings and mentorship schedules with school improvement action plan goals and performance targets.

• Build and sustain strong, professional relationships with parents and guardians through consistent communication regarding student learning, leadership growth, and SEL needs.

• Execute parental outreach strategies to maintain strong student retention and regular program attendance across high school activities and the mentorship initiative.

• Plan and host monthly themed Parent Nights and promote events via flyers and organizational communication channels.

• Facilitate partnerships with local public and private agencies to expand resource access for students and families.

• Assist team members with community outreach, recruitment campaigns, and local events.

• Attend all mandatory core team meetings, professional development workshops, and required training sessions.

Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to supervise staff, delegate responsibilities, manage schedules, and foster an active, collaborative team environment.

Youth Development Expertise: Deep understanding of age-appropriate youth programming, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) principles, and positive behavior management techniques with a focus on active engagement.

Curriculum Execution & Active Engagement: Strong capability in designing and implementing Mentorship, Literacy, Project-Based Learning, and Sports activities. High energy and physical stamina to actively participate in movement, outdoor play, and recreational activities alongside students daily.

Communication & Relationship Building: Outstanding interpersonal skills for establishing trust and strong rapport with students, parents, school administrators, and community partners through direct, approachable, and enthusiasm-driven interaction.

Organization & Logistics: High-level organizational skills to manage room utilization, student attendance data, daily schedules, physical activity spaces, and payroll systems efficiently.

Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to handle real-time operational challenges, mitigate conflicts, and adapt indoor/outdoor physical plans based on environment, weather, or scheduling shifts.

Education: Associate Degree or higher required.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience working directly with children and/or adolescents (experience in an afterschool, summer camp, or high school setting preferred). Strong familiarity with School District of Philadelphia environments, grant-funded youth programming, or community outreach preferred.

Proficiency with administrative systems, program data tracking, and payroll platforms (e.g. Rippling)

Required state and local background clearances for working with youth must be completed prior to hire.

Physical requirements: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (e.g., during student supervision), lift up to 25–50 lbs (setting up equipment/supplies), bend, reach, and lead physical activities/sports.

Environmental conditions: Ability to work both indoors (classrooms, gymnasium, cafeteria) and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
