foundry10 is seeking a highly strategic and operationally strong Chief of Staff with a proven ability to manage senior leaders and strengthen people systems. Partnering closely with the CEO, this role serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for higher-level management, coaching, and ensuring cross-functional alignment through proactive problem-solving.
Summary of Role
The Chief of Staff is a new role and will manage: the Director of Organizational Strategy, Director of Organizational Effectiveness, Director of Operations, Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Communications. This role reports to the CEO.
Success in this role requires an ability to quickly and reliably develop fluency in a breadth of fields and disciplines, build credibility with internal and external stakeholders, and contextualize executive priorities for leaders within their functions.
The salary range for this role is $162,825 to $271,375 per year.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Partnership and Support
- In conjunction with the CEO and Directors, works on enacting strategic, operational, and organizational priorities:
- Serves as a central point of coordination for initiatives that span multiple functions or require executive oversight
- Acts as a key liaison between the CEO and senior leadership, ensuring alignment, accountability, and forward progress
- Assists leaders in the application and structuring of organizational priorities with their roles
- Strengthens high-level decision-making by ensuring the CEO and org directors have the right context and data at the right time
- Provides insights and context from the leadership teams to support CEO's decision-making in advance of meetings
- Gathers additional perspectives and information that help to shape CEO's understanding of organizational issues
- Partners with and acts as an extension of the CEO in various circumstances including internal/external meetings
- Identifies patterns and gaps in accountability and improves them
Organizational Leadership and Operations
- Supports and maintains a functional team of higher-level directors/leaders and promotes a healthy cultural model within the organization
- Holds leaders accountable for ownership and outputs of projects and initiatives
- Establishes and holds boundaries such that leaders can work and move forward with appropriate scope and depth
- Communicates, supports, enacts, and reinforces, strategic decisions and organizational priorities, including helping leaders translate organization-wide direction into clear, function-specific actions
- Assists with high-level project prioritization and sequencing to ensure effective use of leadership time
- Accountable for identifying and resolving problems that arise, removing barriers, and ensuring leaders have what they need to move forward
- Brings resources for professional development and provides coaching to further the growth of the leadership team and direct reports
- Steps in as needed to provide support during times of transition, high workload, or functional change
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, including experience leading functions, teams, or business units with significant organizational impact
- 5-7 years experience developing and coaching senior-level leaders
- Preferred familiarity with the field of education or research. Though this role does not interface directly with those areas, it is the foundation of our work here, and the ability to navigate those systems effectively is helpful
- Proven ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level in a complex organization
- Strong operational and business acumen, with experience managing organizational performance and improving systems and processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and influence outcomes across the organization
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment
- Experience supporting or partnering directly with executive leadership
This is not a remote position. Candidates must live in Washington State and be able to work in person in the greater Seattle area as needed.
