Chief Solution Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Solution Architect based in the United States.

This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end architecture of a large-scale application modernization and cloud transformation program. You will serve as the principal technical authority across multiple engineering teams, ensuring consistency, scalability, security, and performance across all solution designs. The role focuses on guiding the evolution of legacy systems toward modern cloud-native architectures, primarily on AWS, while balancing operational stability with long-term strategic direction. You will collaborate closely with government and technical stakeholders to align architectural decisions with enterprise standards and compliance requirements. Acting as both strategist and hands-on advisor, you will shape modernization roadmaps, oversee technical governance, and mitigate architectural risk across complex systems. This is a high-impact role in a mission-driven, security-focused environment where technical excellence and clarity of decision-making are critical.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide enterprise-wide technical leadership and architectural governance across application modernization and maintenance programs.
  • Define, maintain, and enforce enterprise architecture standards aligned with cloud transformation and federal compliance requirements.
  • Lead the design and evolution of cloud-native architectures, guiding migration from legacy on-premise systems to AWS environments.
  • Review, validate, and approve major architectural decisions across multiple engineering and delivery teams.
  • Ensure alignment of technical solutions with performance, scalability, cost optimization, and security requirements.
  • Oversee technical risk identification and mitigation across complex, distributed system landscapes.
  • Collaborate closely with government and internal technical stakeholders to ensure architectural consistency and compliance.
  • Translate complex architectural strategies into clear guidance for engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification.
  • 8+ years of experience in architecture roles such as solutions, application, or enterprise architecture.
  • Strong expertise in cloud architecture, ideally within AWS environments and large-scale modernization programs.
  • Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
  • Experience defining SecDevOps practices and working within secure, compliance-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, Rust, or PHP.
  • Proven ability to design and guide legacy modernization roadmaps for enterprise-scale systems.
  • Experience working with distributed engineering teams and aligning technical execution with architectural governance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, executive-level narratives.
  • Experience or familiarity with AI-driven development practices, including LLMs, RAG systems, and agentic AI is highly desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Life insurance coverage and employee assistance programs.
  • Wellness programs supporting physical and mental health.
  • Generous paid time off, including federal holidays and military leave.
  • Education and training opportunities to support continuous development.
  • Stable and structured work environment with mission-driven impact.
