Join our dynamic Sanitation Team as a Utility 1 Sanitation Worker! In this role, you will be responsible for various bakery sanitation activities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to communicate and work effectively in a team environment and be flexible in assignments within the utility category. Must be able to follow instructions (written & verbal), safely, accurately complete assigned duties on time, maintain GMP standards, and participate as part of the Food Defense Team.
As a Sanitor1 the candidate is responsible for product safety, windows, ceilings, restroom, break room, wash racks, cleaning equipment, lights, mixers, ovens, pans, etc., throughout the plant. You may also clean processing and non-processing equipment, and building grounds. You will work as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in different work assignments.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Essential Functions- Perform cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the facility, including production areas, restrooms, break rooms, equipment, and common areas.
- Clean processing and non-processing equipment, including ovens, proofers, coolers, conveyors, and related machinery.
- Assist with facility maintenance tasks, including spot painting and general upkeep.
- Communicate with production and sanitation teams regarding cleaning needs, equipment concerns, and sanitation schedules.
- Remove waste, trash, and debris from designated areas.
- Support exterior grounds maintenance, including snow removal, landscaping, and general property upkeep.
- Assist with equipment teardown and preparation for cleaning, maintenance, or repair activities.
- Report and address sanitation, pest control, and housekeeping concerns in accordance with company procedures.
- Follow all food safety, quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Previous manufacturing, sanitation, janitorial, maintenance, or food production experience preferred.
- Previous safety training and knowledge of workplace safety practices preferred.
- Work is performed in a food manufacturing environment operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Must be available to work weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Regular exposure to varying temperatures, including hot, cold, wet, and humid environments.
- Exposure to noise, moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and production equipment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, twist, climb stairs and ladders, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
- Ability to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces when required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, schedules, safety procedures, and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment, facilities, and products to identify cleanliness, quality, or safety concerns.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and production personnel.
- Ability to maintain attendance and work schedules in accordance with business needs.
- Hand tools and cleaning equipment, including putty knives, buckets, rags, paper knives, brooms, mops, dollies, hoses, and related sanitation tools.
- Required PPE may include hair nets, hearing protection, safety glasses, bump caps, gloves, and other protective equipment.
- Regular use of the company's timekeeping system and occasional use of calculators, computers, handheld devices, and production or sanitation documentation.
