Business Analyst - Professional Billing

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Analyst – Professional Billing based in the United States.

This role plays a key part in optimizing professional billing operations by analyzing business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting the effective flow of financial and operational data across the revenue cycle. You will work closely with billing teams and leadership to evaluate existing workflows, implement system and process enhancements, and ensure billing activities support accurate reimbursement and strong cash flow performance. The position requires strong analytical thinking and a deep understanding of healthcare billing environments, from charge entry through insurance processing. You will serve as a bridge between operations and management, helping translate business needs into actionable solutions. The environment is collaborative, detail-driven, and focused on continuous improvement. This is a high-impact role supporting financial performance and operational efficiency across professional billing functions.

Accountabilities
  • Support project planning, analysis, design, implementation, and operational activities related to professional billing processes and system workflows.
  • Analyze existing billing operations and collaborate with stakeholders to identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the implementation of operational changes, including adding, modifying, or removing billing workflows in coordination with departmental needs.
  • Partner with billing teams and management to troubleshoot issues, provide insights, and support resolution of revenue cycle challenges.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and process reviews to gather requirements and translate them into clear documentation and actionable recommendations.
  • Support training and education efforts by helping ensure billing staff understand system flows and process updates.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across departments to ensure alignment and effective execution of billing operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field required (extensive healthcare billing experience with coding certification may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare, preferably within billing, revenue cycle, or related operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of professional billing workflows, including charge entry, claim processing, system editing functions, and revenue cycle operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex operational data and processes.
  • Strong interviewing and investigative skills to gather requirements and identify root causes of operational issues.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) or ability to quickly learn technical systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
