Emergency Department (ED) Tech in Phoenix, Arizona at Valleywise Health System

Deliver critical, hands-on patient care as an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech). Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Director, and under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide skilled, age-specific care in collaboration with physicians and the wider medical team. In this role, you are a vital link in the department, performing clinical procedures and acting as an essential line of communication for patient changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Perform daily tasks including taking vital signs, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and completing clinical procedures.
• Observe & Communicate: Identify and report changes in patient conditions or immediate needs directly to the supervising Nurse or Physician.
• Maintain Records: Document all patient interactions, care steps, and observations accurately within the patient's medical record.
• Collaborate Daily: Partner with multidisciplinary staff to ensure smooth, efficient, and age-specific care delivery in a fast-paced environment.

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.

• Prefer at least one (1) year of relevant nursing-related or emergency services-related experience.

• Must complete an approved phlebotomy class, splinting and traction class, and Valleywise Health computer class within six (6) months of employment.

• Requires certification by the Arizona State Board of Nursing as a CNA or certification as an EMT by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services; Trauma System for EMTs, or a nationally recognized equivalent certificate.
• Requires BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.

• Must know EKG lead placement.
• Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people.
• Requires excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
• Previous acute care hospital experience is preferred.
• Bilingual is preferred
