Job Description:

As a Customer Service Clerk III, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive top-notch service. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the customer service operations in our fast-paced call center environment.
  • Providing back up support to the Call Center Supervisor and Customer Service Supervisor by covering all areas of the call center, supervising up to 14 subordinate staff members.
  • Assisting with ensuring the business office is adequately staffed, and walk-in customers are promptly greeted and assisted in alignment with the City’s CARES Standards. This individual will periodically walk out to greet customers waiting in the lobby.
  • Collaborating with team members to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitating the professional development and integration of new employees.
  • Assisting customers with inquiries and resolving issues in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Investigating, researching, and evaluating customer concerns in order to determine account resolution. Complex accounts may involve consultation with management.
  • Processing utility account information and payments with accuracy.
  • Reviewing and analyzing customer accounts including meter readings, water consumption, billing details and adjustments.
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned.
  • Providing support for community outreach programs and initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in bookkeeping or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
