Visiting Scholar
The Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a Visiting Scholar to work in the research program directed by Dr. George K. Gittes. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working research scholar who is a highly self-motivated individual.
Job description: The applicant will be required to participate in both basic science and clinical research experiments and will assist with non-human primate surgery and postop care. The individual should have a solid understanding of statistical methods and be amenable to learning basic science investigational techniques including but not limited to western blotting, cell culture, RNA isolation and animal experiments.
Requirements: Candidates should possess an M.D./PhD degree. The successful candidate will have a strong background in bench research and experimental design. They should have the ability to work collaboratively and be interested in working with individuals from many different backgrounds, including clinicians and basic scientists. Candidates should also have an effective command of the English Language and evidence of effective writing and interpersonal skills.
