At RWJBarnabas Health, exceptional patient care is supported by team members who keep our departments organized, connected, and running smoothly. We are seeking an organized and service-focused Secretary to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Department at the New Brunswick campus.
In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative support to the department while serving as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and team members. If you’re a strong communicator who enjoys keeping things organized, solving day-to-day challenges, and supporting a collaborative clinical team, we’d love to meet you.
A Typical Day
As a Secretary within Inpatient Rehabilitation, you’ll help coordinate the administrative needs of the department while supporting efficient clinical operations. Your responsibilities may include:
- Answering and managing incoming telephone calls from patients, providers, and other departments
- Providing administrative support to clinical and departmental team members
- Coordinating schedules, meetings, and other departmental activities
- Preparing meeting materials and accurately documenting meeting minutes
- Maintaining organized departmental files, records, and documentation
- Monitoring and ordering office and departmental supplies
- Assisting with basic technology and IT troubleshooting and coordinating additional support when needed
- Utilizing Microsoft Office and clinical patient systems to complete daily administrative responsibilities
- Supporting departmental educational programs and related administrative activities
- Communicating effectively with patients, providers, leadership, and interdisciplinary team members
- Helping maintain an organized, responsive, and professional department environment

To Be Considered
Qualified candidates will possess:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Some post-high school education preferred
- Previous secretarial or administrative experience preferred
- Strong computer skills required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with clinical patient systems preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple administrative responsibilities
- Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week, 8:00AM–4:30PM
