Job Description
Imagineeer is a fast-growing SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business headquartered in Arlington, VA, delivering federal AI modernization across health, defense, homeland security, and transportation. We design, test, and deploy secure, AI-ready systems that move agencies from pilots to production without breaking governance, compliance, or mission continuity. Our Mission Studio model creates shared environments where policy, data, security, and operations come together. We are capability-driven and competitive by design, not program-dependent. Our leadership has operated inside the federal systems we now transform, bringing institutional knowledge that accelerates delivery and reduces risk. If real delivery motivates you more than slides, and you want your work to compound across programs and agencies, Imagineeer is growing and we are building the team to match.
About the role
Imagineeer is seeking an AI Governance Lead to make sure AI-enabled acquisition tools are adopted responsibly on a transformation engagement for a federal civilian department. Many commercial tools now claim to automate acquisition work; your job is to test those claims and confirm each capability meets federal expectations before it is piloted or deployed.
You will own the AI governance checkpoint in the firm's decision methodology: does any AI-enabled capability meet the expectations of OMB Memoranda M-25-21 and M-25-22?
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess AI governance of candidate tools in depth during market research and re-validate during pilot readiness.
- Validate vendors' AI benefit claims against evidence from demonstrations and pilot data.
- Review vendor data handling practices and ensure vendors receive only synthetic or de-identified data under applicable use and non-disclosure agreements.
- Govern AI use throughout the pilot and implementation, including ensuring no finding rests on AI output alone.
- Define governance controls and human review requirements for expanding AI-enabled acquisition document generation, evaluation support, and file review in the Continuation Roadmap.
- Validate AI-related content in every deliverable and contribute AI considerations to the Continuation Roadmap.
- Work with the contractor-provided sandbox in a FedRAMP-authorized cloud region, with mock AMS/PRISM, FPDS-NG, and SAM.gov interfaces and synthetic data
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, public policy, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of experience in technology strategy, data governance, or AI/ML, including at least 3 years focused on AI governance, ethics, or risk.
- Experience developing AI policies or AI risk frameworks for a federal agency or comparable regulated organization.
- Working knowledge of OMB M-25-21, OMB M-25-22, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
- Experience evaluating vendor AI products for accuracy, transparency, and data protection.
- Ability to pass the client's contractor security vetting and obtain and maintain a PIV credential.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
• IAPP Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP) certification.
• Experience assessing generative AI in document-heavy workflows such as acquisition or legal review.
• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
Additional Information:
Employment for this position is contingent upon the candidate being a United States citizen and having the ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
