Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Software & Digital Systems Engineer develops and owns software solutions that directly impacts AGY's 24/7 manufacturing operations, product quality, and business performance. This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure across the technology stack - from manufacturing systems and databases to cloud platforms, automation, cybersecurity, and emerging AI technologies. The engineer works directly with manufacturing and business leaders to identify problems, design solutions, and take projects from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, and continuously improve manufacturing and business applications, including AGY's Manufacturing Information Management System (MIMS).
  • Own solutions throughout their lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, development, testing, deployment, documentation, performance, reliability, and technical support.
  • Partner directly with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other business functions to solve operational problems and improve productivity and product quality.
  • Develop integrations among manufacturing equipment, databases, enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and external services.
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, automation, cloud services, and modern software-development tools, and identify practical applications for AGY.
  • Support AGY's AWS/Azure environments and participate in cloud architecture, application modernization, cybersecurity, and system reliability initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize legacy applications and improve system maintainability, scalability, and performance.
  • Expand technical capabilities through hands-on projects, training, and exposure to technologies beyond the engineer's primary area of expertise.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of software/application development experience; manufacturing application experience preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, programming, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

  • Core: C#/.NET | Blazor | SQL | JavaScript | HTML | Linux | Git | REST/SOAP | AWS/Azure
  • Preferred Exposure: Docker | Kubernetes | Helm | .NET MAUI/Android | TLS/PKI | Networking | Cloud Application Development | AI/ML tools

Additional Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, collaborate directly with stakeholders, learn new technologies, and take ownership of projects from concept through implementation.
