JOB OVERVIEW
The In-Arena Host is a part-time, seasonal role serving as the on-camera and on-microphone face of Colorado Eagles home game entertainment in the American Hockey League (AHL). Working with the game presentation crew under the direction of the Director, Corporate Partnerships, this position leads fan contests, promotions, sponsor activations, and crowd engagement during pre-game, intermissions, and stoppages in play, keeping arena energy high and the game-night schedule on time. Hosts work all assigned preseason, regular season, and postseason Colorado Eagles home games.
Essential Job Functions:
- Host on-ice and in-stands contests, games, and promotions during pre-game, intermissions, and stoppages in play.
- Deliver live and pre-recorded segments for the video board, including fan interviews, sponsor features, and crowd prompts.
- Read sponsor activations and promotional messages from the approved game-night script, on cue and as written.
- Select and prepare contest participants, explain contest rules, collect any required releases, and escort participants to and from the ice.
- Follow cues from the game presentation producer over headset and keep every segment within its allotted time.
- Coordinate with the PA Announcer, video board operators, camera crew, mascot, and promotions staff on segment timing and content.
- Engage fans in the concourse and seating areas to build energy and support Colorado Eagles traditions and theme nights.
- Review the game-night script in advance and attend the pre-game production meeting.
- Arrive at the time set by the supervisor, typically 1.5 to 2 hours before puck drop, for rehearsal and a microphone check.
- Follow arena safety procedures when on the ice surface, including use of approved footwear and staying clear of ice resurfacing equipment.
- Keep all content positive, family-friendly, and respectful of fans, visiting teams, players, and officials.
- Represent the Colorado Eagles professionally at all times, including on microphone, on camera, in public areas, and on social media.
- Attend required preseason and in-season rehearsals and training sessions.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Corporate Partnerships or other management.

Job Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Outgoing, energetic personality and comfort performing live in front of large crowds and on camera
- Strong public speaking and improvisation skills
- Ability to follow scripts and take direction over headset while live on microphone
- Ability to interact positively with fans of all ages, including children
- Basic knowledge of hockey and the Colorado Eagles
- Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday home games throughout the season
- Reliable transportation to the arena
- Prior hosting, emcee, broadcast, theater, or live-event experience preferred
- A sample video or demo reel may be requested as part of the hiring process
Arena Environment:
- The primary physical environment in which this position works is an indoor ice arena, on the ice surface, in the seating areas, and on the concourse, with exposure to cold temperatures, high crowd noise, amplified sound, and bright lighting.
- The position requires standing and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and walking on the ice surface.
- On-ice segments take place during intermissions and stoppages, near the boards and ice resurfacing equipment.
- Game shifts typically run 4 to 5 hours, including pre-game and post-game duties; overtime and shootouts extend the shift.
Shift type: Part-Time, Seasonal, Evenings, Weekends and Holidays
Pay: $40.00 per hour.
Timekeeping: Hosts clock in at arrival and clock out after game conclusion.
Benefits: This part-time position is not eligible for medical, dental, life insurance, or paid time off. Hosts earn Colorado paid sick leave at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
