Job Description
Assist in daily operations of Military Student Services Office: processing official transcript requests and admissions applications through Salesforce; assisting students with navigating MyBarton Portal to include resetting passwords and enrolling/dropping through self-service and navigating canvas; enter transcript credit (military and college) into Banner; assist service members with Tuition Assistance (TA) and Joint Service Transcript (JST) requests; deactivate student files and overall Student Service responsibilities. This position will also assist with BSEP enrollments when needed.
10.00% - Staying organized, using effective time management, and being adaptable to the needs of the office. 20.00% - LSEC and CP Program Operations: assisting the Director of Military Student Services with cycle preparation, to include, but not limited to preparing schedules; checking weekly reports in coordination with the other Student Service Specialists; preparing books and tracking inventory for upcoming cycles; and contacting students regarding textbooks, attribute checks, and enrollments Expectations: Provide prompt customer service to all internal and external customers of Barton CC - Fort Riley. Demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. Process data entry work in a timely manner. Demonstrate initiative, practice good organization and time management, and understand the confidential nature of personal student information and know when you can and cannot share it (FERPA). Assist or execute any expected or assigned office work. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education - A high school education or GED.Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Other Skills -
Associates in Business Technology or related field preferred.
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, faculty, and staff; ability to work with students of diverse age and background; ability to operate independently/multitask; and experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
Physical Requirements: Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Wages/Other:The starting hourly range for this position is $18.27 to $20.34.

Barton Community College, Fort Riley Military Academic Services, is seeking applicants for a part-time replacement Student Services Specialist to join our team! We need a people-focused professional who enjoys helping others, solving problems, and keeping things running smoothly. As the first point of contact for students visiting our Fort Riley office, you’ll play an important role in creating a welcoming and supportive experience. You’ll assist current and prospective students by providing general information about Barton, answering questions about programs and classes, and helping students connect with the right resources, including scheduling appointments with advisors. Additional responsibilities include assisting with office duties such as processing student enrollments and transcripts, working with multiple operating systems to assist students and staff, answering phone calls and emails, and performing other administrative duties.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in Business Technology or related field preferred. The successful candidate must have the ability to interact professionally and effectively with students, faculty, and staff; work with students of diverse ages and backgrounds; work independently and multitask; and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Computer experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required. Military knowledge is preferred.
