Quality Engineer / Supplier Quality Engineer CTSC
Summary
Advanced Technology Systems Company (ATSC) in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Quality Engineer / Supplier Quality Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this is a hands-on, floor-connected position where you will interact directly with products, processes, and cross-functional teams to ensure total compliance and drive QMS effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Supplier Surveillance
Serve as an active floor presence across manufacturing, planning, and engineering meetings to ensure customer, contractual, and internal compliance.
Generate program inspection plans and train Quality Inspectors on critical characteristics and key inspection criteria.
Track, disposition, trend, and report non-conformances across Design & Development, Manufacturing, and Post-Delivery phases.
Partner with subcontractors and suppliers to evaluate product conformance, conduct Supplier QMS audits, and resolve quality issues.
Read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
Documentation & Program Support
Review Engineering Change Records (ECRs) for quality criteria and serve as an active Change Board member.
Review and approve ERP router/traveler operations regarding product build steps and conformance.
Coordinate and document product inspections with government and customer representatives (DCMA / Direct Customer).
Quality Management System (QMS)
Maintain QMS processes, procedures, and associated compliance artifacts.
Perform ISO 9001 internal audit activities, including audit planning, execution, reporting, and corrective action closure.
Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts, facilitating the problem-solving framework while technical subject matter experts provide domain details.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on Quality Engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Quality Tools & RCCA: Proven background in root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why), corrective/preventive action (CAPA), and verification of effectiveness.
- Auditing: Experience conducting ISO 9001 or AS9100 internal audits (Internal Auditor Certification preferred).
- Regulatory & Technical: Familiarity with DoD quality expectations, FAR requirements, and government contracting. Ability to perform basic physical assembly/disassembly during defect investigations.
- Security Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Government background investigation/clearance.
Physical Demands & Travel
- Hands-on inspection environment (indoor/outdoor work, extended standing, bending, climbing).
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Travel: ~10% travel required (may include domestic and occasional international visits).
