About the role

The RMA Specialist supports the 24/7 operations of our data centers with a focus on hardware lifecycle management, including setup, testing, diagnostics, repair coordination, and RMA processing. This role ensures that all physical infrastructure; servers, storage devices, and network equipment, operates reliably and meets quality standards.

Location: On-Site | Dallas, TX

Employment type: Permanent, Full-time

Pay Range: $20-24 /hr

What you'll do
  • Perform hardware setup, testing, and validation prior to deployment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Diagnose, document, and escalate recurring or complex hardware failures.
  • Coordinate RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) requests, including vendor communication, part returns, and tracking replacements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware components, replacements, and RMA status.
  • Support the installation, racking, and cabling of servers, switches, and related infrastructure.
  • Execute data destruction procedures for reclaimed or decommissioned devices in accordance with security policies.
  • Assist in performing hardware audits and maintaining asset documentation in internal tracking systems.
  • Monitor alerts, tickets, and chat queues; provide timely response and escalate issues as needed.
  • Perform firmware and BIOS updates on servers and other hardware platforms.
  • Install and configure operating systems using standard images and base configurations.
  • Support planned maintenance and infrastructure upgrade projects under guidance from senior staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and update technical documentation.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as required (location dependent).
  • Provide courteous and effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers.
What you bring
  • 3+ years of experience in data center operations, hardware support, or system build environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in IT, electronics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture and diagnostic procedures.
  • Familiarity with RAID, BIOS/firmware updates, and common hardware troubleshooting tools.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Basic networking fundamentals (switching, cabling, IP configuration).
  • Experience coordinating or managing RMAs with vendors or manufacturers.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed testing and maintain quality assurance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proven reliability and accountability in a 24/7 operational environment.
