You will oversee end-to-end accounts receivable operations while leading a small team responsible for billing, collections, and reconciliation activities. The position plays a key role in ensuring revenue integrity across diverse client engagement models, including retainers, project-based work, and media-driven billing structures. You will collaborate closely with accounting, operations, and finance leadership to strengthen internal controls and streamline financial processes. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on cash flow, reporting accuracy, and overall financial health. It is well-suited for a hands-on leader who enjoys optimizing systems, mentoring teams, and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic agency-style environment.

Accountabilities:

You will oversee the full accounts receivable lifecycle while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all financial operations. This includes supervising AR processes, guiding a small team, and partnering cross-functionally to support smooth financial execution.

  • Manage day-to-day AR operations including invoicing, credit memos, collections, and payment application across varied client structures
  • Lead month-end close activities such as journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting support
  • Oversee client account setup, aging reports, and cash collection optimization efforts
  • Reconcile passthrough spend and collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure financial alignment
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small AR team, fostering accountability, growth, and collaboration
  • Support process improvement initiatives, including automation and tool adoption to improve efficiency
Requirements:

This role requires strong technical accounting expertise combined with leadership experience in a fast-paced, client-driven environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and confident managing both people and processes.

  • 6+ years of general ledger or accounts receivable accounting experience
  • 3+ years of team leadership or management experience
  • Strong proficiency with NetSuite and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and modern accounting principles
  • Experience managing AR in complex billing environments (agency or digital media preferred)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
