CFO - Financial Solutions - Full-time

Job Purpose

As part of BELAY’s Fully Accountable division, CFOs serve as strategic financial advisors and fractional CFOs to growing small- and mid-sized businesses. They act as strategic advisors and financial leaders who improve financial visibility, guide decision-making, optimize cash flow, and support sustainable growth. By combining technical expertise with business insight, they provide strategic financial expertise while collaborating closely with internal accounting team members to deliver high-quality financial support.

Our CFOs are professional, creative, and adaptable to a diverse and evolving client base. They proactively identify opportunities for improvement, connect clients with additional resources, and deliver consistent, high-quality service. Internally, they lead client engagements and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver a consistent client experience.

Duties and responsibilities

As a BELAY Team member, you will professionally represent the company in all virtual and in-person interactions. You are expected to exemplify our mission, vision and core values daily, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial strategy, planning, and forecasting for clients
  • Develop and maintain budgets and a 13-week rolling cash flow
  • Deliver timely, monthly financial reporting and executive insights
  • Serve as a trusted partner to clients through periods of stabilization, growth, and transition
  • Partner with client leadership on growth initiatives, operational efficiency, and risk management
  • Provide proactive insight by identifying risks, opportunities, and compliance considerations to support client growth
  • Monitor client engagement health and identify opportunities for additional support, resources, or services as appropriate
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely, high-quality client support

Qualifications

This role requires a motivated and trustworthy self-starter with strong communication and technological skills who thrives both independently and on a team. Our ideal corporate team member is flexible, creative, well-organized and ready to roll up their sleeves to get the job done!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business required; CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6–8 years as a CFO or in a high-level strategic finance role
  • Ability to understand and guide day-to-day full-cycle accounting functions while operating primarily at a strategic level
  • Proficiency with accounting and business platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Fathom, Shopify, Cin7, Amazon)
  • Experience advising small businesses in industries such as inventory-based retail/e-commerce, creative/project-based companies, or technology startups
  • Familiarity with accounting and tax methodology, as well as small business economic trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and competing priorities while delivering high-quality, timely work in a profitable and efficient manner
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and guide clients and cross-functional partners
  • Track record of delivering exceptional client service and strategic guidance to small businesses and startups

Working Conditions

BELAY Corporate offers full-time remote work, requiring a dedicated, distraction-free home office for standard Monday-Friday business hours, with occasional travel for some roles. As a full-time, exempt W-2 employee, you'll join a vibrant, award-winning company culture where you're a valued, engaged team player in a thriving organization.

Physical Requirements

This position primarily requires prolonged sitting, frequent computer use, and participation in virtual meetings. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

Salary Range

$120,000 - $175,000

Location Requirements

This role is remote within the U.S. However, due to employment and tax compliance considerations, we are currently unable to hire employees in the following states: California, New York, Illinois, Oregon.
