Overview
This position is for COLUMBIA Ships Management in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will be responsible for all activities associated with submarine construction for the SSBN 826 Forward End, focusing specifically on tasks within SM4. This position is primarily located at the Groton location, and is a 1st shift position in support of new construction & final assembly and test.
Ship Management’s primary responsibility is to drive critical and controlling path items, as well as coordinating volume work for the ship and modules under their cognizance while maintaining a commitment to first-time quality. In support of this mission, the Ship Superintendent responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining construction schedules, work order attainment, inspection and work completion processes, material availability, test coordination and integration, shipboard cleanliness, CONOPs and productivity surveillances, and interface with internal and external senior leadership.
The Ship Superintendent, in addition to interfacing with Operations, also interfaces with Design, Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Planning, and the Program Office to resolve all items affecting Ship's Construction. The Ship Superintendent is responsible for holding periodic ship progress meetings to coordinate trade activities and to provide guidance to all departments and functions supporting Ship's construction relative to the Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Process Improvements objectives.
The Ship Superintendent interfaces with the Customer to discuss concerns and issues and to provide overall program or specific task status, as requested.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED
- 6+ years of EB experience in engineering, test, program office, or shipyard trades - OR - 8+ years of outside experience in manufacturing/operations in a field of project management, construction, military, planning, construction engineering field or shipyard trade
- Available to work any shift, extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
- Internal salary exempt employees must have achieved a senior level title or higher
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or another related technical field
- EB Operations Supervisory experience
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, MS project, TeamCenter, and Lotus Notes
