Job Description
This position performs all tasks related to office operations including patient scheduling and registration of outpatients in an efficient, accurate and hospitable manner to ensure that patient, physician, and hospital needs are met. Job duties include Insurance authorization, chart preparation, faxing, filing, and managing the phones, setting up recurring visits for patients, overseeing prescription management, monitoring patient visit activity and purging inactive account, following up on incomplete patient referrals, conversing with workers comp adjusters and insurance representatives to assure revenue cycle protection, recurring account oversight, Medicare Cap Management for Medicare patients, Insurance Verification, ability to work in multiple clinic and office settings in a very high paced environment, changing operation functions and work responsibilities daily. Engages in performance improvement activities as needed and serves as a communication facilitator for area of responsibility.
SPECIFIC SKILLS NEEDED
Knowledge of Insurance and Authorization process
Demonstrated attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
Good English spelling skills
Good English reading and comprehension skills
Ability to follow directions as outlined in policies or given by Supervisor
Computer Skills / Typing 45 wpm minimum
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Required:
Minimum one (1) year experience of customer service or related field
Medical terminology or demonstrated proficiency within six months of hire date (via a course or self -guided study program
Telephone experience with good phone etiquette
Preferred:
High school graduate required or equivalent, evidence of continuing education
Bilingual skills in Spanish / Chinese
Minimum one (1) year experience in a doctor’s office scheduling patients or hospital registration / admitting
