Nursing Faculty Instructor in Chicago, Illinois at MCC Holdings Group LLC

General Purpose

The Faculty Instructor is responsible for delivering theory-based instruction, coordinating day-to-day faculty operational needs in support of the Program Director, and providing student support through tutoring, remediation, and academic guidance. Teaching responsibilities may account for up to 80% of the faculty member’s full-time (FT) workload, based on programmatic and operational needs.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Instruction: Theory, Lab and Clinical

•Deliver theory instruction across assigned LPN courses in accordance with the approved curriculum.

•Deliver lab instruction across assigned LPN courses in accordance with the approved curriculum.

•Deliver clinical instruction across assigned LPN courses in accordance with the approved curriculum.

•Maintain and update course-specific content in Brightspace (LMS) including syllabi, assignments, quizzes, and announcements.

•Maintain accurate and timely records of students’ grades and attendance in the system.

Student support and progression

•Provide a minimum of 6 hours of weekly office hours and tutoring support.

•Monitor student academic performance within assigned courses and refer students to the Academic Success and NCLEX Coordinator for analytics and remediation support.

•Participate in student progression meetings and academic review processes.

•Submit final grades and required academic documentation by institutional deadlines.

Administrative and Operational Support

•Serve as first point of contact for adjuncts and clinical instructors reporting faculty concerns, course issues and instructional needs to the Program Director.

•Submit required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner.

•Serve as a professional role model and nursing leader for students and peers.

•Participate in program and college committees, including those related to accreditation and curriculum development.

•Attend bi-weekly departmental/unit meetings.

•Collaborate with clinical partners to ensure high-quality student experiences and adherence to clinical site policies.

•Participate in ongoing college initiatives that support student success and institutional excellence.

•Engage in personal and professional development, scholarly activities, and community outreach Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching and/or clinical practices.

•Proficiency in instructional technologies (online teaching platforms and course management systems).

•Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.

•Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills.

•Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills).

•Ability to develop and complete projects without continued direct supervision.

•Ability to learn from students' participation, to demonstrate fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and to show compassion without being ineffectual.

•The position also requires excellent spelling and grammar skills, and the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner.

Education and/or Experience

•Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

•Current and valid Illinois Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license.

•Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) year of teaching in a nursing college setting.

•Experience working with diverse student populations, including both traditional and non-traditional learners.

Physical Demands

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
