Position SummaryThe Welding Quality Manager will oversee the quality and welding inspection functions at the facility, providing leadership to the Quality team and ensuring manufacturing activities meet established quality standards, applicable codes, and company requirements. This position will recruit, develop, and lead Quality personnel while partnering closely with Manufacturing to identify issues, improve processes, and maintain efficient production flow.
The manager will serve as a technical resource for welding and inspection activities, including visual weld inspection, ultrasonic testing, nonconformance management, and quality documentation. The position will also be responsible for maintaining the facility's quality systems and supporting internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, train, and develop Quality Control personnel, including inspectors and technicians.
- Oversee welding inspection activities and ensure inspections are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Serve as a technical resource for welding processes, inspection methods, and applicable industry standards.
- Review nonconforming material and assist with determining appropriate corrective actions and disposition.
- Develop and monitor quality action plans to address recurring issues and improve manufacturing performance.
- Maintain and update the Quality Systems Manual and related quality procedures.
- Monitor compliance with established quality processes, procedures, and applicable code requirements.
- Partner with Manufacturing leadership to identify opportunities to improve quality, productivity, and process consistency.
- Establish inspection procedures that support thorough quality verification while minimizing disruption to production.
- Coordinate internal quality audits and assist with preparation for customer and third-party audits.
- Track and coordinate calibration of inspection equipment, tools, and related measuring devices.
- Review quality data and trends to identify opportunities for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Support Management Reviews and provide quality performance information to leadership.
- Promote ongoing technical training and development within the Quality department.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and accountable work environment.
- Perform other quality-related duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:Qualifications
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification through AWS required.
- Experience supervising or working closely with ASNT Level II Ultrasonic Testing (UT) personnel.
- Strong knowledge of welding inspection practices, quality systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of applicable welding codes and industry standards.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading, training, and developing employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and explain technical information.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a production environment.
- Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments.
- Willingness and ability to obtain Canadian Welding Supervisor Certification, if required.
- Proficiency with quality documentation, inspection records, and reporting systems.
