Psychiatric Registered Nurse - Psych RN in Big Spring, Texas at SuiteMate Staffing Solutions

SuiteMate Healthcare Staffing, a Joint Commission Certified healthcare staffing agency, is seeking a dependable and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a six-month assignment in Big Spring, Texas.

The Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care, perform nursing assessments, and respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies under the supervision of the Unit Nurse Manager.

• Provide quality nursing care to patients in a psychiatric hospital setting.

• Conduct nursing assessments for newly admitted patients.

• Recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies.

• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the appropriate medical staff.

• Complete accurate patient documentation and computer data entry. Training will be provided.

• Follow established nursing procedures, patient safety protocols, and facility policies.

• Maintain compliance with Joint Commission guidelines, CMS standards, Big Spring State Hospital policies, and HHSC requirements.

• Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.

• Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred, but not required.

• Strong communication, clinical assessment, and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to respond effectively to medical and behavioral health emergencies.

• Must meet HHSC immunization requirements.

• Must successfully complete required drug screening and fingerprinting.

• Must complete all facility and HHSC-required training.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a healthcare team.

• Rotating shifts based on facility staffing needs.

• Every other weekend off.

• Candidates may begin on a weekday (Monday–Friday).

• A minimum of 5 days' notice before the start date is required to process pre-employment requirements.

• Must complete approximately 2–3 weeks of on-unit mentorship with an experienced Registered Nurse.

• Competitive pay: $50.00 per hour.
