Under immediate supervision, performs simple non professional engineering work of routine difficulty in the field.

• Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in algebra and geometry; or

• Acts as head or rear chair bearer in a field survey party.
• Takes measurements with tape or chain.
• Drives stakes and clears brush, carries and cares for survey instruments, tools and vehicles.
• Assists on level or transit work; sets and marks grade stakes, hubs and turning points; constructs bench marks and monuments; marks in field and records high water during floods.
• Makes simple computations and field notes; prepares cross sections, profiles, mass diagrams and charts.
• May act as relief instrument person; performs non professional engineering work not involving the use of complex formulae.
• May perform simple engineering drafting and other surveying and simple drafting duties as directed.
• May perform other related non professional duties involving Engineering and Public Works.
• Performs related work as required.
