About This Position

Position Description: Dynamic top NMHC property management company seeks Senior Accountant to help propel the company to new heights. Remote work is a possibility for the right individual.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will assist the properties in all aspects of the accounting and finance functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and will be a part of supporting site operations.

Responsibilities:
  • As the primary accounting contact for the assigned properties, maintains frequent contact with the properties, assists the site personnel in understanding financial statements and analyzing the results
  • Close the property books and prepare the monthly financial statements and other schedules by analyzing balance sheets, general ledger accounts and property related reports.
  • Ensure completeness of all accounting tasks related to assigned properties each period including A/P, revenue and accruals
  • Analyze the cash requirements of properties and anticipate future cash needs
  • Review invoice coding and approvals
  • Correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries.
  • Keep information confidential
  • Assist in the preparation of replacement reserve requests on a timely basis.
  • Reconcile the bank and balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and file sales/use and other returns
  • Communicates property procedural or internal control issues to Management
  • Provide financial status information by preparing special reports and completing special projects including audit/tax schedules, budgeting, custom analysis, etc.

Required Experience:
  • Degree in accounting or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in real estate accounting is required.
  • Significant knowledge of G/L, A/R, A/P, payroll, tax and banking procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
