Job Description

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Operator perform duties of Quality Engineering Department at a world class silicone rubber and plastic injection molding facility. Primary responsibility revolves around inspecting, measuring, and recording quality data for manufactured silicone rubber and plastic components to ensure all quality standards are met. Quality Assurance Operators also assist in managing the product nonconformance process, sorting and rework activities, and measurement activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Product Inspection, Measurement, and Non-Conformance Review / CAPA:
    • Use blueprints, customer specifications, and internal quality standards in conjunction with a variety of measurement tools to maintain the manufacture of saleable product.
    • Measurement skills with microscopes, magnifiers, optical CMM’s, dimensional hand gauges (calipers, micrometers, etc.), mass measurement, pressure testing, mechanical testing, etc. Functional use of these tools required along with knowledge of calibration processes.
    • Analyze and evaluate inspection results using run charts and present the information in an appropriate manner to identify trends and/or problems with a production process.
    • Develop & maintain visual inspection standards.
    • Maintain non-conforming material process by completing non-conformance reports, segregating material, and re-inspection as needed; occasionally auditing or sorting parts for potential defects.
  • Includes other duties assigned by your Manager from time to time.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized work/inspection station.
  • Conduct process improvement projects as assigned.
  • Assist in training new Team Members.

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Similar work experience and/or education.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Solid understanding of calibration systems.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems inspection and testing processes.
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming skills.
  • Statistical application and evaluation skills.
  • Experience in an ISO9001 or similar work environment.
  • Understanding of IQMS System.

Work Conditions/Other

  • Must be available to work second shift, occasionally move to morning shift
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate additional work time as necessary during weekends
  • May be required to work overtime on a regular and recurring basis
  • Perform light to moderate physical tasks on a regular basis, with lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in confined area with loud noise, extreme temperatures

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • General math and computer proficiency.
  • High level attention to detail in order to identify flaws in products.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and provide analysis to solve problems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet time sensitive deadlines and organize workload with general supervision.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills with ability to collaborate with multiple departments to resolve issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to professionally interact with co-workers, management, and outside-visitors.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
