MONELL CHEMICAL SENSES CENTER

The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute, and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia.

Position Overview

Monell seeks an education innovator to support and expand a new training program at the intersection of research, industry engagement, and scientific workforce development:

The Monell Science Entrepreneurship Program for Healthy Aging (MSEP-HA) – Monell’s NIH REDI-funded research education program that trains early-career scientists in sensory biology, aging, and entrepreneurship has been funded by the National Institute on Aging through May 30, 2030 (NIH PAR-22-226).

The ideal candidate is an individual with excellent communication and organizational skills who enjoys building relationships, managing schedules, budgets and data to support the development of the next generation of entrepreneurial scientists.

Key Responsibilities

  • MSEP-HA / NIH REDI Program
  • Coordinate curriculum delivery for the 3-week entrepreneurial training program (lectures, industry panels, mentoring, case-study discussions).
  • Support trainee onboarding, scheduling, logistics, and evaluation/reporting required by NIH.
  • Maintain communication among trainees, mentors, and partner organizations.
  • Work cross-functionally with Communications/Marketing, Philanthropy, Government Relations, Scientific and Administrative teams to achieve objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical or education field
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience in an area related to education, entrepreneurship, technology translation in an administrative or support capacity.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to connect with trainees, mentors and other stakeholders representing multiple sectors, geographic regions and levels of expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships or cross-disciplinary project teams.
  • Facility with current AI technologies for productivity enhancement and collaboration.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an industry, translational research, or academic–industry partnership environment.
  • Familiarity with federal, state or foundation-funded scientific training programs.
  • Interest in sensory health, aging research, entrepreneurship, or biomedical innovation.
  • What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Within 6–18 months, the Program Manager will:
  • Support a high-quality, well-coordinated NIH REDI training experience with measurable participant growth.
  • Operationalize systems for implementing and tracking program impact.
