Job Description
The Assistant Professor is responsible for development and delivery of educational content to ATSU-SOMA standards across the curriculum. This position will work collaboratively with the ATSU-SOMA team to develop, implement, and refine the curriculum and will be involved in the creation, delivery, and assessment of students in our program. This position will serve in the needs of the institution during the interview season. A 0.2 FTE equals approximately 8 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a faculty in our board prep programs to include help in preparing syllabi book lists and objectives; preparing assignments using applicable technology for the online teaching; working with staff to place all appropriate material on management system in a timely fashion; assuming assigned role in test preparation and administration; assessing student progress in the courses and preparation and submission of final grades.
- Counsel students needing improvement in academic or professional performance.
- Curriculum development – clinical programs and board prep.
- Interviewing candidates for admission.
- Mentorship for students.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chair of Clinical Science Education and/or the Assistant Dean of Clinical Curriculum, IPE, and Simulation Education in keeping with the purpose of the school.
Education & Experience:
- College Degree, required
- The successful applicant will have demonstrated success promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity.
- The applicant should have a common understanding of bias, what it means to be culturally proficient, and demonstrated success at mitigating differences.
- The applicant should have familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine.
- Three to five years prior experience. Skill requirements are covered under Internal medicine specialty board certification.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, emailing, and public speaking.
