About This Position
Job Summary
Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Works in collaboration with nursing departments, ancillary services, other support departments and Emergency Department Director to ensure high quality patient care is delivered to the emergency patients in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. Assists in developing and implementing the strategic plan for SANE program and services lines in accordance with national standards of the accrediting bodies of the SANE program. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, promoting, evaluating, and maintaning all SANE certifications with services pertaining to operations, budgetary, and personnel activities. Provides education on all SANE Program to hospital Associates as needed. Coordinates SANEs and reports findings to the key stakeholders and appropriate hospital committees. Assists with coordinating and providing Community Outreach Programs as required for all SANE. Works in collaboration with Emergency Department Oversight Committee members to ensure continuity of care of all Emergency Department Programs and patients and clinical outcomes. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. May be called on an “on-call” status when needed.

4. Proficient in utilizing the principals of analytical assessment and creative problem solving.
5. Knowledge of hospital systems and organizational relationships.
6. Ability to conduct research.
7. Ability to apply knowledge of the Joint Commission, TDSHS, ACEP, and Regulatory Accrediting Agency Standards to assure compliance.
8. Skilled in the use of computer systems and related software applications.
9. Possesses critical thinking and problem solving skills.
10. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
11. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
Work Experience
Three years of supervisory/management experience is required. Strong experience as a Registered Nurse attending to critical care patients is required. Documented experience of at least two years in performance improvement projects is preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Current CPR training is required.
Certified Adult Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (CA-SANE) is required within two years of being in the position.
Certified Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (CP-SANE) is required within two years of being in the position.
Education and Training
Bachelor degree in Nursing is required. Master degree in healthcare related field is preferred.
Completion of the following courses is required within one year of being in the department:
- Trauma Nursing Core Course or Advance Trauma Care for Nurses (TNCC/ATCN)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
