About This Position
Abernethy Laurels is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician with a strong background in lawn care, landscaping, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will have 5–6 years of hands-on experience in groundskeeping, operating heavy equipment, and performing basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. A passion for outdoor work and a working knowledge of plants, bushes, and trees is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain landscaped areas, including planting, pruning and seasonal clean-up.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and other landscaping machinery.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry as needed.
- Assist with irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Monitor plant health and recommend treatments or replacements as necessary.
- Ensure all grounds and outdoor areas are safe, clean, and visually appealing.
- Support seasonal projects such as snow removal, leaf cleanup, and storm preparation.
- Collaborate with the Facilities team to support overall campus maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5–6 years of experience in landscaping, lawn care, and general maintenance.
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment and tractors.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
- Familiarity with plant care, including trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Valid driver’s license required
