Annual Salary: $50,000-$52,000

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervision of JJ Case Managers directing the individualized service plans, transition planning and discharge summaries of all youth enrolled in the program.
  • Ensure that each newly admitted youth is provided prompt and supportive orientation. Ensure that all in-house screenings and assessments necessary to formulate a thorough individual service plan are scheduled during the intake phase. Help with overseeing placement of youth in specific group.
  • Complete or arrange for all required mental health and substance abuse screenings and assessments.
  • Complete performance summaries, treatment plan reviews, aftercare/transition plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Assist Medicaid Clerk or other staff in post release data collection as required by Eckerd policy and contractual obligations.
  • Serve as liaison between the program, the Department of Juvenile Justice, other outside agencies, and the youth’s family.
  • Provide case management duties, preparing families for program visits, home leave experiences, family/group conferences, and aftercare responsibilities.
  • Network family members to available community resources.
  • Collaborate with leadership and performance improvement activities by conducting periodic reviews to ensure compliance with Eckerd policy and agency requirements.
  • Serve as member of program’s Leadership Team. Collaborate for overall success of operation, including but not limited to: program development and enhancement, safety and security of youth and staff, back-up support, fund development, staff development and training, etc.
  • Work with the JJ Case Manager to coordinate mental health and substance abuse programming with sub-contracted mental health providers. Determine the youth, focus, and timing of the group and individual interventions each week.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, performance management, and retention efforts for subordinate staff; ensure program/ has staffing sufficient to provide adequate client coverage; partner with Human Resources to maximize retention efforts.
  • Supervise, direct, motivate and evaluate performance of employees; Ensure staff meets all training and development requirements, and evaluate staff growth plans and development.
  • Coordinate and ensure youth receive any and all subcontracted clinical services for psychological assessments, individual and/or group therapy and substance abuse education in accordance with the youth’s individual service plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited College or University, in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education, or in a related human services field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two years’ experience working with children with serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse problems. If the candidate has a master’s degree in an appropriate field, the experience requirement is preferred, but not required. One year of experience supervising multiple staff. Experience in a Medicaid provider environment is helpful. Experience with group work techniques is a plus.
  • A sound understanding of group leadership, group dynamics, and experiential education. Records management and Medicaid processes preferred.
  • Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd’s Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes.
  • Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable. Must be able to move about the property. Must be able to participate in youth activities. Must be able to transport youth or staff. Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state and to the extent the data is attainable under the law. Must be able to pass the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention evaluation of verbal skills, physical techniques, and written certification exam.

About our Residential Academy:

Eckerd Connects' Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential program is a complete rehabilitative experience delivered in 4 to 6 months to 40 adjudicated male youth, ages 13 to 17, referred by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Juvenile Justice. This residential treatment concept combines promising and evidence-based practices with a strong family transition component and signifies a public-private partnership with the Division of Juvenile Justice which has produced an innovative shift in the way youth are served in North Carolina's juvenile justice system. Intensive, short-term services include individualized treatment and academic plans that combine formal and experiential education, community service, behavioral health, and family counseling in a non-punitive environment designed to address the youth's behavioral challenges through a strength-based approach. Youth also receive accredited education on-site and work together in small group settings with assigned counselors.
