About This Position

Office of Information Services (OIS) at Harrisburg University has a need to expand on its existing pool of student workers to better serve a growing student population. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the AV Support Specialist and closely with the HU IT Staff and assist with technical setup for events and helpdesk support on evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

The selected student will:

  • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist students and faculty with connection to the network, printing issues, and A/V related issues and operation.
  • Provide onsite Helpdesk support on evenings and weekends.
  • Provide event support functions and assist outside groups on how to use the A/V technology.
  • Operate auditorium and 1151 control room for Livestream events. Learn how to operate audio system, cameras, and switching equipment.
  • Notify appropriate team members if a problem requires escalation.

General Knowledge and Skills

  • Identification, isolation, and solution of problems.
  • Strong background in Windows environments and general technology troubleshooting.
  • Ability to stay on task and work in an organized manner.
  • Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.
Education and Training
  • Educational focus in Computer Science/Information Systems is preferred.
Availability
  • Must be able to work varied hours, including evenings, maximum 20 hrs/week.
  • Must be available over the summer to cover weekend and event work..
