Office Assistant Summary:
Exciting opportunity to join our growing dental clinic in Valhalla, NY. WIHD is seeking a dental Office Assistant to perform a wide variety of clerical support functions for an outpatient dental clinic. Responsibilities include checking in patients, scheduling, confirming appointments, handling mail, and performing other office related duties.
WIHD’s mission is to create better futures for people with disabilities, for vulnerable children and for their families and caregivers. The dental clinic is one of many outpatient clinics at WIHD serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. WIHD provides a positive working environment with an emphasis on work life balance.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments; check patients in and signs them out.
- Assist in coordination of operating room case scheduling.
- Provides general administrative support services to enhance office operations, including coordination of Touro student rotations.
- Screens telephone calls along with office staff.
- Opens, screens and route mail.
- Operate a wide variety of office machines, including fax machine, and copier.
Office Assistant Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of office procedures and understanding HIPAA regulations; ability to comprehend written material; ability to operate office machines; ability to maintain complex records and files.
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing general office or clerical work, preferably in a medical/dental office.
