About This Position

EEC Solutions is hosting one applicant for the Human Resources Management Program under the DOW Skillbridge Program.

Position Overview

The Human Resources Assistant (SkillBridge Intern) is an entry-level training position designed for transitioning service members seeking civilian experience in Human Resources. This structured 120-day program provides comprehensive exposure to core HR functions through a blended learning model that includes formal instruction and supervised on-the-job application

Under the guidance of senior HR leadership, the trainee will develop foundational knowledge and practical skills in recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee records management, benefits administration, payroll support, training coordination, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.

This position is developmental in nature and prepares participants for entry-level HR roles in the civilian workforce.

Program Structure

The program consists of:

• 120 Days of Training
• 40 Hours Per Week
o 16 Hours Structured Individual Instruction
o 24 Hours Supervised On-the-Job Training

Training is delivered by the Director of Administrative and Finance Operations and Human Capital, a senior HR executive with over 21 years of experience .

Major Duties and Responsibilities

During the SkillBridge internship, the HR Assistant trainee will receive instruction and practical experience in the following areas:

1. HR Fundamentals and Professional Standards

• Learn core HR functions, workflows, and organizational structure.
• Apply ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
• Interpret HR policies and employee handbook guidelines.

2. Employment Law and Compliance

• Gain familiarity with key federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO).
• Assist with compliance documentation and audit readiness.
• Support personnel file maintenance and required recordkeeping.

3. Recruitment and Staffing Support

• Assist with drafting and posting job announcements.
• Support applicant tracking system (ATS) functions.
• Conduct basic resume screening and interview scheduling.
• Coordinate hiring documentation and pre-employment processes.

4. New Hire Onboarding and Orientation

• Prepare onboarding packets and employment eligibility documentation.
• Assist with orientation logistics and policy presentations.
• Maintain onboarding records for compliance and accuracy.

5. Employee Records and HRIS

• Maintain confidential personnel files (paper and electronic).
• Enter and update employee data in HR Information Systems (HRIS).
• Generate basic HR reports and verify data accuracy.

6. Benefits and Payroll Support

• Assist with benefits enrollment and life-event changes.
• Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding benefits.
• Support payroll processing and timekeeping systems.

7. Training and Development Support

• Coordinate training logistics and communications.
• Track certifications and compliance training requirements.
• Navigate and support Learning Management Systems (LMS).

8. Employee Relations and Workplace Communication

• Provide professional customer service to employees.
• Document and route employee inquiries appropriately.
• Apply basic conflict resolution and escalation procedures.

9. Performance Management Support

• Track performance review cycles and documentation.
• Maintain confidential performance records.
• Provide administrative coordination for supervisors.

10. HR Administration and Process Improvement

• Perform scheduling, filing, correspondence, and administrative tasks.
• Apply time management and prioritization skills.
• Identify opportunities for HR process improvement.
• Complete a capstone project demonstrating applied HR knowledge.

Supervision

The SkillBridge HR Assistant will work under the direct supervision of senior HR leadership. Duties are performed in a structured learning environment with progressive responsibility based on demonstrated competency.

Required Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for participation in the DoD SkillBridge Program.
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required).
• Strong interest in Human Resources or business administration.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and willingness to learn.
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with tools like Google Share Drive, Canva, Mailchimp, or similar platforms.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to improving processes and systems.

Outcomes Upon Completion

Upon successful completion of the 120-day SkillBridge program, participants will receive:

• Approximately 120 days of structured HR training and applied experience
• Civilian-applicable HR experience supporting entry-level employment opportunities
• A Certificate of Completion for the SkillBridge Human Resources Assistant Training Program
• Experience that may support eligibility toward future HR certifications (e.g., aPHR, PHR), depending on certifying body requirements
Work Environment
• This position operates in a professional remote office environment.
• Weekly virtual meetings may be required depending on project or business needs.
