Job Description
Position Summary
Accountable for the coordination, direction organization and evaluation of patient care, human resources and unit management on a 24-hour basis for Emergency Department. This individual maintains the standards of JCAHO, DOH, OSHA, EMTALA and specialty recommendations. Supports and interprets the mission, philosophy and objectives of HMC. This leader will practice within the framework of Shared Governance. The Director will lead, plan and organize the system-wide strategic and operational activities of our Emergency Department. The successful candidate will have at least five years of progressive leadership experience for a hospital or healthcare system. This challenging and demanding position requires an accomplished leader with strong clinical skills who has demonstrated a capacity to build constituencies. The successful candidate must be a proven manager with the ability to consistently demonstrate a high degree of leadership, creativity and vision. He/she must have a keen strategic/business sense, exceptional clinical ability, superior interpersonal skills, and a passionate commitment to the organization's mission. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to manage complex employee, physician, administrative and patient relations.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing OR health related field
MS/MSN/MBA or Master's degree in a health related field required (if not achieved on hire, must be enrolled and completed within 5 years)
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):
Required:
Three to five years of Director/Manager level experience in an Emergency Department.
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
● CPR Required
● CPI training is required, and must be renewed annually. If not certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 6 months.
● Current RN License and ANCC or AONE Nurse Executive certification (if not complete upon hire, must complete within 1 year of eligibility).
OR
●
FACHE Certification (non RN) in not complete upon hire, must complete within 1 Year of eligibility
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Required:
The candidate must have experience managing all Emergency Department operations including all financial and human resource activities. He/she must have strong fiscal management, performance improvement, planning and staffing skills. He/she must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with clerical, clinical, medical and administrative staff. He/she must have a thorough understanding of all applicable regulatory/accreditation issues.
