Job Description

About the Role:

As a Survey Technician, you will play a critical role in collecting land and construction data to support engineering, construction, and mapping projects. Your work will ensure that project plans are based on accurate measurements and geographic information, which is essential for successful project execution and compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to prepare detailed reports and maps that guide decision-making processes. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to operate advanced surveying equipment in various environments across the United States. Ultimately, your contributions will help shape infrastructure development and land management initiatives by providing reliable and actionable survey data.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform manual labor, such as cutting brush to clear lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other items, and staking survey monumentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and protocols.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel to field sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or certification in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to withstand regular exposure to outdoor worksite weather conditions that may be wet and/or humid environments with extreme cold and/or heat
  • Must be able to perform tasks that require long-term standing and/or repetitive motions
  • Ability to work out-of-town

Skills:

The required skills enable the Survey Technician to accurately collect and record spatial data, ensuring the reliability of survey results used in project planning and execution. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills help identify and correct discrepancies in the field, maintaining data integrity. Preferred skills such as CAD and GIS knowledge enhance the ability to produce detailed maps and integrate survey data with other project information. Effective communication and teamwork skills facilitate collaboration with engineers, surveyors, and other stakeholders, ensuring that survey outcomes align with project objectives.
