Job Overview:

The patient Access Representative (PAR) performs all duties related to the pre-registration, registration, and financial clearance processes for patients in the ambulatory setting. Responsible for collection and verifying proper data to ensure hospital bills will be paid by a third-party payer or the patient. Provides customer service to patients. Performs scheduling functions of new and follow-up patients. Responsible for identifying, collecting, and reconciling patient liabilities on a routine basis.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of medical insurance and medical terminology
  • Work experience in patient registration

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day shift, 7:30am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:00pm
  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and also as needed
  • Per Diem

Essential Functions:

  • Collects and verifies patient’s demographic and insurance information, completing necessary paperwork, and entering data into electronic medical record
  • Ensures accurate patient registration for billing purposes
  • Greets patients timely and courteously in a professional manner
  • Obtains necessary signatures during registration
  • Verifies insurance by running verification software or calls insurance company as necessary
  • Schedules new and follow-up appointments as needed
  • Demonstrates the ability to collect the required co-pay / fees and provide receipts accurately
  • Scans documentation as needed into the medical record in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Clears any registration alerts by end of business day and maintains accurate registration records
