The Membership Recruiter is responsible or executing effective membership recruiting strategies via in-person presentations and phone calls to increase girl and adult lead generation in assigned, established geographic areas. This includes recruiting girls to participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, recruiting adult volunteers. This is a part time position, working up to 20 hours per week.

Are you a passionate leader and connector? We are looking for an energetic Membership Recruiter to drive our mission by recruiting and retaining girl and adult members within an assigned geographic territory. As an Membership Recruiter, you are the face of Girl Scouts in your community—fostering partnerships, supporting volunteers, and ensuring every girl has the opportunity to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Growth: Develop and implement year-round strategies to exceed membership targets for girls and adult volunteers.
  • Community Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with schools, businesses, and community centers to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Volunteer Support & Retention: Recruit, onboard, and train new troop leaders, providing coaching to ensure a high-quality, sustainable first-year experience.
  • Service Unit Management: Support and empower local Service Unit volunteers (community volunteers) to lead recruitment and retain existing members.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Track, analyze, and report on membership leads, trends, and progress toward goals using CRM systems (Salesforce).

AVAILABILITY

Works a variable schedule averaging 12 to 20 hours per week. Schedule may include weekdays and weekends. Weekday availability must include 4pm-8pm and weekend availability should include 11am-4pm.

Skills, Education and/or Relevant Experience:

  • Must be 21* years or older and able to successfully pass a background check and drug screening. *Exceptions made for college students.
  • Incumbent must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Minimum education; high school diploma, with some college. Relevant work experience preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and passionate about developing girls into leaders.
  • Must possess the ability to work with girls in a large group setting and be able to apply critical thinking, use of good judgment, and make positive decisions.
  • Able to demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience wiht Girl Scouts highly desired.
  • Self-starter. Detail oriented. Highly motivated.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills required.
  • Successful candidate will be culturally sensitive and possess the ability to work productively with diversified groups of people.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • CPR and First Aid certification a plus.

  • Information Management: Access, organize and manage information effectively. Keep accurate and timely records. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing plans based on analysis and council data. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources and projects.
  • Organizational Knowledge: Understand Girl Scout purpose and organizational structure including functions, operations and interpersonal relationships. Keep current with all key GSUSA and council specific policies, priorities, processes and practices. Complete required training/coursework as assigned and provided by GSCM or GSUSA.
